INTERACT WITH OTHER CHORUS PARENTS
When a student joins CCW, his/her family automatically joins a community of dedicated parents who care deeply about the artistic and personal development of CCW singers as well as their own. Through a variety of social events and volunteer activities throughout the chorus season, parents develop their own friendships with other CCW parents and a support system, which allows car pool arrangement for rehearsals, exchange of helpful information, and get-togethers for their children outside of chorus-related activities.
TAKE PART IN YOUR STUDENT’S CHORUS LIFE
There is NO limit to how many different ways in which you can take part in your student’s chorus life! Please be sure to fill out the volunteer section of registration form to let us know in what area of our chorus you can help us with. Here are some examples of how CCW families remain active in their students’ chorus life:
Sign-in Table at Rehearsals: CCW parents cover the sign-in table at weekly rehearsals on a rotating schedule, and provide supervision in the hallways during rehearsal hours, so that all of our students are accounted for at all times.
Late pick-up Supervision after Rehearsals: Parents who can stay 5-10 minutes after rehearsal sessions often sign up for the “late pick-up,” so that students whose parents run a few minutes late to pick up their children have adult supervision until they are picked up.
CCW Concert Volunteers: CCW concerts are the major highlights of our chorus season, and the CCW staff could use as much volunteer support as possible to manage all the ensembles on a tight schedule and hundreds of patrons who deserve the best choral experience. Parent volunteers have lots of fun working together to assist patrons and supervise chorus members backstage, which gives you direct access to the excitement of a live concert.
Chaperones for Tours and Trips: Tours and trips are one of the highlights for our chorus ensembles (Concert Chorus, Young Men’s Ensemble, Bel Canto Chorus). Depending on the tour program, CCW parents are encouraged to sign up as tour chaperones to take a leadership role that ensures a fulfilling experience for the students. In addition, only when available, CCW families are invited to participate in tours as “family tour participants” who travel alongside the chorus and enjoy unique performances on the tour route.
Provide professional skills/service to support CCW: As a small nonprofit organization with many operational needs and limited resources, we invite chorus parents whose professional skills could support and advance CCW to work with us. Whether it’s your professional affiliation, expertise, or resources, we would love to find a way to get you involved!
ATTEND CONCERTS AND EVENTS
CCW Concerts: Attending CCW concerts is the best way to experience the choral excellence that our students strive and stand for. While families are welcome to observe our chorus rehearsals, our concerts, held in December and May, are the opportunities where we get to celebrate and showcase our students’ artistic achievements. Our concert programs are also regarded as one of the best choral performances by young people in the country in its vocal quality and unique repertoire.
CCW Fundraising Events: As a nonprofit organization that operates itself with various contributions from supporters, CCW organizes a few fundraising events throughout the year to both raise funds for the organization and provide community-building opportunities. CCW parents participate in many different ways including but not limited to: by attending the events with friends and families, by bidding on fantastic items during auctions, and by making new friends within and outside of the CCW community.
Annual Appeal Campaigns: Every fall and spring, CCW invites its families, supporters, and fans to make contributions to support its music program. CCW tuition payments only cover about one-third of program expenses per student, and in order to keep the current tuition rates, we ask everyone in the community to make a tax-deductible contribution to the chorus. Also, donors who make a donation higher than a certain level receive a concert ticket upgrade when the offer is available.
